Watercolor Demonstrations
Watercolor Demonstrations
The San Rafael Goldenaires will be demonstrating watercolor techniques at various times during the Fair along with watercolor paintings and greeting cards for sale.
The Goldenaires offer a very popular, relaxed Watercolor Program that has been in existence for over 30 years, initially begun by Gerhard Weihl, a professional artist. After his retirement, we continue holding the class on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 2:30pm at the San Rafael Community Center-618 B Street, facilitated by member artist Ann Carroll.
A still life is provided for anyone interested, but we encourage you to bring your own reference, i.e. photograph, sketch etc. Because of the range of experience, beginners to professionals, each person works independently but help/suggestions are happily given. We hold critiques monthly, and occasionally we show “how to” watercolor videos by well known watercolorists. A supply list is available.
Be sure to visit the San Rafael Goldenaires booth for a watercolor demonstration and watercolor paintings.

About the Marin Photography Club
Founded in 1948, the Marin Photography Club (MPC) celebrated their 75th anniversary in 2023! This group of passionate photographers have been getting together all those years to share knowledge and friendship…creating opportunities to share work in both a competitive spirit, along with the comradery of gathering with each other to explore the techniques and philosophy of photography in a comfortable environment.
Within the club environment, there are numerous events to share experiences and gather both in-person and through virtual meetings. There are also plenty of education events from photography speakers throughout the world, along with multiple field trips to places near and far.
MPC is one of 17 Bay Area camera clubs participating in the Northern California Council of Camera Clubs (N4C), a cooperative organization formed in 1952 to allow all clubs to compete with each other’s works in various photographic categories, furthering the opportunities of social and educational programs...sharing additional expertise and passion within the photographic industry.
Stop by our both, say hello, get your portrait taken, and bring home a quality print. If you have a camera that you struggle with, bring it along and maybe one of the volunteers in the booth can help review with you.
See you there!

Nancy Martin Award
Nancy Martin Award
This year's Nancy Martin Outstanding Nonprofit of the Year Award is given to:
LITA (Love is The Answer)
Come join LITA as we celebrate our 50th year of connecting volunteers to Marin's isolated and lonely older adults. We are always looking for folks who want to change someone's life by sharing an hour a week. LITA was built on the belief that love and companionship are essential to well-being. For fifty years we've brought warmth, connection, a sense of community, and sometimes a dog or a guitar to Marin's older adults, ensuring that they feel seen, heard and valued. Come visit us in Booth #159 to learn about Volunteer Opportunities, or to complete a Client application for someone that you think would like a visitor. Clients can live in congregate living, Assisted Living, skilled nursing facilities, or in their own home. All of LITA's services are free. Our programs include one-to-one visitors, Pet Connection, Bridging Thru Music, and Bridging Generations. Hope you stop by!
For more information, visit our website at litamarin.org or call 415-472-5482.
About the Nancy Martin Award
Each year, members of the Marin Senior Fair Steering Committee select a nonprofit for the Nancy Martin Outstanding Nonprofit Award for “outstanding services to Marin seniors.”
The award winner receives a cash award of $500 and a free booth at Marin Senior Fair. The recipient is honored in an on-stage award ceremony at the Marin Senior Fair and featured in an article in the Fair Program.
About Nancy Martin

Nancy Martin
Nancy Martin was a long-time supporter of the Marin Senior Fair and a member of the all-volunteer Senior Fair Steering Committee for many years. Nancy was the Marketing Director of The Tamalpais, a retirement community in Greenbrae, for 24 years. Her work touched the lives of many and she was particularly loved by the residents of The Tamalpais. After her sudden death in 2013, members of the Senior Fair Steering Committee wished to commemorate her commitment to the older adult community in Marin by naming the Fair's Nonprofit of the Year Award in her honor.
