The Scleroderma Foundation of California
Scleroderma is a chronic autoimmune disease (in autoimmune disease, the body’s normal immune/defense system turns against itself) and can involve most organs but frequently involves the lungs, heart, gastrointestinal system, tendons, and joints in addition to the skin and maybe life-threatening. About 80% of persons who have systemic sclerosis are women and It is estimated that about 300,000- 700,000 Americans have scleroderma and about 2.5 million persons world-wide have scleroderma. We serve the surrounding cities of Marin County offering patient and family support groups, professional educational events, personal outreach, advocacy with awareness events and research funding to help find a cure. We want to make sure we've expanded our reach to the families living with scleroderma who might not know there are important and life saving resources available to them through our organization.
