Marin County Civil Grand Jurors' Association
The mission of the Marin Chapter of the Civil Grand Jury Association (MCCGJA) is to help recruit, select and train members of the Marin Civil Grand Jury. MCCGJA members are former civil grand jurors. Their purpose at the Senior Fair is to inform attendees about the civil grand jury and encourage them to apply to serve on it.
The Marin Civil Grand Jury is a court-appointed citizens "watchdog" group composed of 19 volunteers who are responsible for conducting confidential investigations into the operations of local governments, including the county, cities, schools, and special districts. Civil grand juries are charged with writing factual reports with findings and recommendations on how government operations can be improved. Elected officials are required by law to read and respond to these reports. Many reports have led to significant improvements in our local governments.
Applicants must be at least 18-years-old, U.S. citizens, and a resident of Marin for at least a year. Serving on the jury is a tremendous way to contribute to your community, and we hope you’ll continue applying for it at mccgja.org.
