Marin Transit was formed by a vote of the people of Marin County in 1964 and provides local bus service and specialized programs designed to meet the diverse needs of residents, commuters, and visitors. Marin Transit local bus routes connect neighborhoods within the urbanized and rural areas of Marin, provide service along the 101 Corridor, and provide connections to regional transit providers that link Marin with other parts of the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to local bus service, Marin Transit offers a suite of specialized programs under the brand Marin Access. Marin Access programs and services include paratransit (for individuals with disabilities who cannot use regular public transportation), volunteer driver reimbursement programs, shuttles that serve West Marin and the more rural areas of the county, and fare assistance for those with income barriers.
