The Marin Home Care Association is an organization of home care professionals working to educate our community of the importance of licensed care wherever they call home. Just as patients require expert care within acute and rehab settings, it is equally critical to maintain that professional standard of care of home. Our mission is to provide consumers with convenience and peace of mind by assisting them in finding a licensed home care provider that will best meet their needs. The MHCA lists only CA state licensed home care organizations, home health agencies, and hospices. Our members are held to highest legal standards of accountability and their employees/caregivers are rigorously screened and subject to agency supervision and CA state oversight.

Why is licensing important? Licensing protects the consumer by reducing the risk of abuse, neglect, fraud, or inadequate care. Licensed providers are subject to regulatory oversight by the State of CA. Licensed agencies assume all employer costs and responsibilities such as training, employee taxes, worker's compensation and liability insurances, background checks, supervision and oversight.
